President Faure receives International Federation of the Red Cross (IFRC) Regional Director for Africa

The President of the Republic, Mr Danny Faure, received the International Federation of the Red Cross (IFRC) Regional Director for Africa, Dr Fatoumata NAFO-Traore, for a courtesy call at State House this afternoon.

The President extended a warm welcome to Dr NAFO-Traore on her first visit to Seychelles and expressed his appreciation for the excellent collaboration between IFRC and Seychelles through the Red Cross Society of Seychelles.

Seychelles is committed to engage with all its partners to ensure that our shared interests are advanced and we achieve our common ambitions. The Seychelles Red Cross Society has been very active and on behalf of the people of Seychelles, I would like to thank them for their continuous hard work. I would like to also reiterate our commitment to further develop our collaboration across the different spectrums discussed for the betterment of all, said President Faure

The meeting was an opportunity to review the progress and contributions of the Red Cross Society in Seychelles, and to highlight some of the challenges being encountered. President Faure and Dr NAFO-Traore also discussed how the government can better support the Red Cross Society of Seychelles, both at a national level and international level.

Speaking to the press after the meeting, Dr NAFO-Traore expressed her appreciation to the President for welcoming her and her delegation in Seychelles. She commended the Seychelles Red Cross Society for their professionalism and commitment and congratulated them for not only engaging in the local community, but taking part in international humanitarian efforts for fellow countries in need.

Dr NAFO-Traore was accompanied to State House by the Head of the Indian Ocean Islands and Djbouti Country Cluster, Mr Yousef Ait Chellouche and the Secretary General of Red Cross Society of Seychelles, Mrs Colette Servina. Also present was the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Barry Faure.
