FORUM OF MINING COMPANIES SET UP TO INDUSTRIALISE SOUTH AFRICA’S LIMPOPO PROVINCE

POLOKWANE, SOUTH AFRICA, A new forum, comprising mining companies operating in South Africa's Limpopo Province as well as the provincial government, has been launched in Polokwane.

The forum seeks to come up with ways of industrialising the province through manufacturing and increasing support for local businesses.

Limpopo's Economic Development Department says this is part of the resolutions stemming from a Mining Roundtable summit which took place last year.

Department head Solly Kgopong said here Wednesday that the long-term goal is to pave the way for a thriving manufacturing sector in Limpopo, the country's northernmost province.

"The agenda of the Limpopo Mining Forum really is to ensure that we support economic growth activities in the province and it is based on the five pillars that we have just agreed on now which will be your industrialisation, skills development, business development, which links into procurement as well as the ability to ensure that we benefit the province," said Kgopong.
