Ambassador Faure receives President Azali’s Special Envoy

Ambassador Barry Faure, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and the Blue Economy, received this Thursday at the Maison Queau de Quincy, a Special Envoy of the President of the Union of the Comoros, Mr. Assoumani Azali, bearer a message to President Danny Faure.

The Special Envoy by the name of Mr. Chanfi Issimail arrived this Wednesday in Mahe and is a former director of the East Africa Standby Force (EASF).

The visit of the Comorian Special Envoy is likely to be related to the forthcoming inauguration of President Assoumani Azali scheduled for 26 May in the Comorian capital, Moroni.

President Azali was re-elected in the first round of the presidential election on March 26, with 60.77% of the vote.

Ambassador Faure thanked Mr. Chanfi Issimail for the letter of invitation that he proposes to give to President Faure while recalling the proximity and the excellent relations of friendship and fraternity shared by the two countries which are also ardent advocates of regional cooperation.

The Seychelles Secretary of State also took the opportunity to renew the solidarity and the part that Seychelles is taking in the suffering of the Comorian people, following the passage of Hurricane Kenneth who caused deaths and extensive material damage.
